6th Grade Party 2018

So this one’s for the 6th Graders.

Because we think that finishing Elementary School and starting Jr. High is kind of a big deal, this Friday, June 8th from 7:00pm-8:30pm we are throwing a party to welcome you to officially join us for our Eastport Bible Church Youth Group, or EBCYG.

Not only is our party going to be amazing, it has a theme.  And that theme is “Fortnite: Real Life Edition.”  Which mostly means that we are going to run around outdoors and play games with lots and lots of water balloons, over 1,000 to be exact (so dress for that if you want).

And after that, we’ll have cake.  Because as I mentioned before, we are celebrating and in my mind, there is no better way to celebrate big life milestones than with delicious sheet cakes from Costco.

And the news just gets better for you 6th Graders.  Because after Friday, you are officially invited to join EBCYG for all of our upcoming events.

You’re invited to join us for NTS Camp, July 8-12th.

NTS Camp info can be found here, and basically, it’s pretty much the most amazing camp that you could imagine.  We already have a great group of students that are going this year and we would love to have you join us.

And you’re also invited to join us for EBCYG at the Beach, which happens every Wednesday from 6:00-8:30pm staring July 18th.  We get together for games and a devotion time with small groups and it’s the most beautiful way to spend the summer.

We also have an all church picnic on July 22nd that you’re invited to, that has food, a pool, volleyball…

And crepes.  And it’s all pretty wonderful.

And not only are you invited to have fun with our Youth Group (which is for 7th-12th graders) but you’re also invited to serve with us.

One of the main ways we do this is by helping out at our church’s VBS Kids Camp, which runs Monday through Friday, August 6th-10th.  Because life for yourself is okay, but life with and for others is much better.  And one of our goals at EBCYG is to give you opportunities to serve and to share your life.  We’ve had our students do this for years and we are so proud of them.

And when the summer is done and you’ve officially settled in to Jr. High, you are invited to join our regular Youth Group nights which are on Thursdays from 7-9:00pm.

So, for the record, that is a lot of information, but we just wanted to give you a glimpse of what it looks like to be a part of our Youth Group.  And it all starts on Friday, with Fortnite: Real Life Edition.  We would absolutely love to have you join us for this fun event and feel free to bring friends!  If you have any questions, you can reach out to Laura Herr, lauraherr8@gmail.com or 631-448-1100 for more information.

*And on a side note, parents this is for you.  Whether you have older kids or this is your first venturing off to the Jr. Sr. High school, please know that our goal at EBCYG is to love and support your student.   As a parent of a teen finishing 8th grade this year, I know for fact that these can be challenging times for all.  But that is exactly where we want to help.  We have a wonderful team of leaders that volunteer each week to work with our teens and our goal is to provide a safe and fun environment for them to learn and grow.  The majority of our Youth Group students are actually from the ESM school district and my amazing husband Jeremy Herr has been the Youth Pastor at Eastport Bible Church for the past 15 years.  We know that now, more than ever, students need to feel love and cared about and that is exactly what we aim to do at EBCYG.

I love Jesus, my Youth Pastor Husband and our two beautiful children. I'm a professional photographer and I love people, especially kids. My best days include time with my family, Hot Yoga and a Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream cone.
