Breakaway 2018

These are just a few.  Because in reality, it would be impossible to share enough images to give you the fullest understanding of the amazing weekend we had with our students and leaders at Breakaway 2018.  It’s about as full as you could fill 48 hours or so of weekend retreat camping and what follows are just a few of the memories that we all shared together.

Also…  If you sent your child to Breakaway with us and are around next Sunday, February 18th, please plan on joining us at Eastport Bible Church in the evening starting at 5:30pm for our Annual Spaghetti Supper.  The meal is free and you’ll be served by the most amazing students around.  At 7:00pm we’ll have a student led service where you will see more pictures and our Breakaway Video followed by an ice cream dessert.  We would absolutely love to have you join us.  You are also welcome to join us if you’re simply interested in learning more about our Youth Group and the fun things that we do.

And now, without further ado… a few pictures from Breakaway 2018.

I should probably note that our theme for Breakaway this year, was Christmas.  Which was pretty awesome.  But me explaining this, will explain a lot of the festive clothing that you might see in the pictures to come.

Our Speaker, Mitch Connelly.  I remember quite well when he was in high school and on Sundays at church, I’d invite him and his brother to come to Youth Group.  They were always polite, but never came.  That is until they both joined us for our first missions trip to Brazil.  Mitch really got plugged in after that and would go on to attend Grace Bible College so that he could become a Youth Pastor.  WE loved having him speak to our students this weekend and he did an amazing job.

For our game time on Saturday, we had Christmas Donkeys, of course.

And they were joined by the Christmas Frogs.  Obviously.

Or maybe it was that we found these crazy cheap costumes at Primark and made up a story just so we could use them.  That is probably more what happened.

A big success for me each year is getting everyone safely on and off the tubing hill.  Thankfully this year as well as most years, everyone had an amazing time and came off the hill relatively unharmed.

Even this guy.  Who tends to get a little close to the action all for the sake of a sweet video clip or two.

For quite a few years now, Grace Bible College sends out the most wonderful students who lead us in worship over the weekend.  This year’s group did not disappoint and we came home with some pretty awesome new songs.

Another weekend highlight is Breakaway’s Got Talent.  It’s basically when our best and most ridiculous talents are showcased for all to see.

We wrapped up our weekend with our final session as well as a prayer time for our Seniors.  What a blessing it is to have students join us so that we can love them and support them all throughout Jr. and Sr. High School.  It’s our greatest joy to send them off to do great things for Jesus and this is our prayer for this year’s group as well.

Again, so thankful and proud of Mitch and Amber Connelly and the great things they are doing as they serve Jesus in Michigan.

And there you have it… a few of the many memories that we shared from one, unforgettable weekend.  Again, join us next Sunday February 18th at 5:30pm to learn more about our weekend, we would love to see you there!

I love Jesus, my Youth Pastor Husband and our two beautiful children. I'm a professional photographer and I love people, especially kids. My best days include time with my family, Hot Yoga and a Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream cone.
