What I’m about to say, probably makes me kind of a Halloween Scrooge. But I have to admit, it’s just not my favorite holiday. Mostly because I’m not a fan of scary things, my family eating extravagant amounts of sugar or the dark. But when you have kids, who love a good night where people give them free candy, you kind of just go with it. Which is what we did this afternoon.
A bit sad, is me confessing that this was the first year that I didn’t get a picture of our two kids dressed up together. Secretly, I think Christian might think that he’s getting too old for Trick or Treating. So I didn’t want to further that by making him and Ellee take a million pictures. Thankfully, I did catch a few with friends, and for this year that will be good enough. Christian dressed up in an ugly Christmas sweater and Ellee was a ballerina.
She was delighted by the fact that she wore three tutus to achieve the flounciest skirt she could manage. Then she sensibly threw on a jean jacket and some boots and that was that.
We met up with awesome friends in a new neighborhood this year.
It was perfect because it wasn’t super busy and the kids got in plenty of exercise walking from house to house. They ended up with an appropriate amount of candy and all in all we had a great night.
I didn’t take too many pictures, because it got dark pretty early, but did catch this fun one of the kids warming up in the car in-between houses.
And that about sums up Halloween 2017. We finished up with cookies and dessert at a friend’s house and we were good to go. All that being said, as a parent of a 13 year old and soon to be 11 year old, I’m so thankful for another fun night of memories for the books. Our kids are growing up so fast and it’s so present on my heart to enjoy and capture as much of it as I can before the sweet memories of their childhoods are complete. Happy Halloween to all of our dear friends and hope your kids had fun making great memories as well!
