Tonight, we kicked off our new year of Youth Group with an event that was literally lit (to quote the teenage slang I get to keep up with since, well, we work with teens).
This awesome girl and a fun group of our friends were on hand to help us set up for our big event which we lovingly named EBCYG, “Under the Lights.”
And in the end, it turned out pretty awesome. We prepared for both Nuke ’em and Thunderball and had two courts that were ready to go by the time our teens started to arrive.
In case you didn’t know, we are in our 15th year of ministry at Eastport Bible Church. Which means that we’ve truly enjoyed many amazing years working with many amazing teens. This year is no exception. Starting next week, we will be in our usual school year routine for EBCYG. Which means that we will happily hang out with your 7th-12th grade teen, multiple days a week. Here’s a quick overview of our typical weekly schedule:
- Sundays… 9:30am Worship (meets at the church), 11:00am Eleven (an in-depth Sunday School type group that meets at the Herr’s home), 7:00pm Living Room (our teen Small group that meets at the Herr’s home).
- Thursdays… 7:00pm-9:00pm EBCYG, our weekly youth group for 7th-12th (meets at the church).
- Fridays… First and Third… Times and locations are to be announced but basically every first and third Friday of the month we run activities and game nights for our teens (meets at varied locations)
- Our teens are also invited to participate in other weekly ministries which means that we have lots of other fun ways that we get to hang out with them each week.
Also, in case you didn’t know, we have an awesome group of teens this year and we are so excited to see the great ways that God will work in their lives.
Under the Lights ran from 8:00pm-10:00pm. It went by literally and figuratively like a blur.
I learned pretty quickly that it was literally impossible to get clear shots with the lighting being so low. That being said, it didn’t really stop me from trying.
I mostly ended up with a lot of really blurry shots…
But these were my favorites. It was a great night, though hard to adequately capture in photos. Let’s just say in reality, it was much louder and much more fun than I could have ever captured. At the end of the night, we had some tired, but happy teens.
As I mentioned, we could not be happier anticipating this new year with these amazing kids. If you are local and a teen and looking for some good, clean fun, come and hang out with us! We have a website that has more info if you need it and you can find it here: www.ebcyg.com.
A huge thanks to everyone who came out to hang with us, “Under the Lights.”
