It’s the first day of school here and ours started bright and early with our awesome 8th grade son who reasonably asked if I could save the first day of school “photoshoot” for after school instead of at 6:00am in the morning.
Let’s just say I did my best to oblige him. Let’s also say that I’m a photographer, so there is only so much I can do to restrain myself when it comes to capturing life’s special moments.
Moving on. Thanks to a solid night of sleep he woke up in a great mood and ready to start the year. My waffle maker and I made him a great breakfast and soon he was off. And then he just stood by his stop for 20 minutes because the bus missed him the first time around. But I secretly cheered when it finally picked him up and then went back to bed for a hour and a half.
This girl was not quite so easy to wake up since she isn’t a huge morning person, but once she got going she was good.
We did get to catch a few first day pictures since we only live across the street and since we had a bit of extra time.
We said a prayer for her first day and then arm in arm she walked to school with her Daddy.
Thankfully we have this year and next for these moments and I’m going to soak them in as much as I can because time sure does fly.
Somehow when we got there we had a bit of waiting time before they let the kids in. So we found a few friends and made them all stand in the glaring sun so we parents could capture memories.
Ellee’s nerves were calmed a bit when she found a fellow friend to walk into 5th grade with. Unfortunately they aren’t in the same class this year, but thankfully by 5th grade you seem to make a nice group of friends that stick.
And that about sums our morning up. I’m sending so much love and prayers to all of the kids in our schools today! Praying for the staff and administration and our teachers too!
Happy First Day of School!
Love all the pictures and the fact she is in 5th grade and will still walk hand in hand with dad! Have a great year kiddos.
