I got a text from Sally today. Michael has been in the hospital since just before Christmas and she asked if I would come up and visit. So just after noon, Ellee and I made the all too familiar drive up to Stony Brook University Hosptial.
I had a tight feeling in my throat as we drove. Because there is a small but growing part of me that has been feeling just so heartbroken for Michael lately. We love our friend Michael so much. And it’s so very hard when someone you love is struggling. And knowing that Michael is struggling on top of his other struggles, just seems like so much sadness at times.
When we got to Michael’s room, we got updates from Sally. Michael’s been in the hospital for the past two weeks. His doctors have been working to adjust different seizure medications, but this adjustment period has affected Michael in different ways. He’s had stomach issues and other difficult side affects and all of these have made him pretty uncomfortable. And while it was so good to see Michael again, it was so incredibly heartbreaking to see him struggling.
Sally asked for prayer for Michael. These past few weeks, he’s struggled with stomach issues, and counts being off, and fevers and just the general uncomfortableness of being in the hospital. I think overall, it’s just a tough time for Michael and for his family. That being said, I know we can rest in the truth of knowing that God hears our prayers and that He is close to Michael and his family during this heartbreaking time. Please join me in prayer and just asking that God would bring strength and healing to Michael soon. Thank you all so much.
