This is our friend, Jade. And we met her forever ago, when she came to Youth Group one year and decided to stick around for pretty much everything.
She always had the sweetest personality. She was a friend to everyone and we all loved her very much (and still do).
Over the years, we got to watch her grow up.
While always maintaining a very fun and funny side.
Jade was always up for pretty much any sporting event we put on. She was legendary at Thunderball, both indoors
She was a regular for the Turkey and Jingle Bowls as well.
And through the years Jade was always a regular at Youth Group. It was here we watched her faith and her love for Jesus grow and grow.
So much, that for the past few years, she joined us on our leadership team, serving beautifully as a Jr. High leader and mentor.
Jade has always been a rock in our Small Groups as well. She was a solid participant when we ran Fit Club and it was always fun to see her lead and interact with her friends, even while doing burpees or holding a plank.
When we met up today for lunch, we reminisced about Jade’s first year at Breakaway. She was nervous because she never stayed overnight really ever but that year she came to Breakaway, loved it, and would go on to attend many years of it.
We always loved having Jade with us.
And we could always count on her to be fun and sweet and amazing.
We started to see Jade develop a love for missions when we took our first Missions Trip to Costa Rica. It was a beautiful thing to see her serve others because of her love for Jesus and her commitment to serving Him. Her passion and drive were part of the reason that we would do back to back years of missions trips in Costa Rica.
And I suppose in a way, that all of that is what brought us to today. After a great conversation, a few prayers and a delicious lunch together, we said goodbye to our friend Jade. But it really was the best kind of goodbye. Because in a few days, Jade is leaving for five months to go to Mazatián Mexico to serve with YWAM (Youth With a Mission). She will be attending the Discipleship Training School for three months and then will spend the following two using what she’s learned to serve somewhere else in the world.
We could not be more proud of Jade and all that she has accomplished and all that she will do. We love her and we know that God will work in her life in mighty ways in these next five months. While we don’t love goodbyes, we are so thankful that we got to be a part of Jade’s life and we know that we are sending her out to do great things for Jesus. If you think of it, please keep Jade in your prayers as she is away these next five months. There is something so beautiful about seeing our former Youth Group students go and do great things and we are excited to see the great things Jade will do. We love you Jade!
