An EBCYG Christmas

Every year for Youth Group, we celebrate with an EBCYG Christmas Party.  It’s one of my favorite nights of the year.  Jeremy started out with sharing why we celebrate Christmas and just an overall beautiful devotion about the hope and light that Jesus’ birthday brings.

We ended our time together with a beautiful Christmas song that our friend Sara sang.  I’m telling you, when you’re in Jr. and Sr. High, it’s not easy to get up in front of a group of your peers and sing.  But she did and with the voice of an angel.  It moved me to tears and I was so thankful that she was willing to share her gift with us all.

Afterwards, we moved into the overflow room to kick off our party.  We did it by first celebrating these awesome kids who all have birthdays this week.

We have a tradition where we sing Happy Birthday to them in our loudest and most obnoxious voices.  It’s probably our worst/best tradition.  Either way, it always brings quite a few laughs and hopefully hasn’t scared anyone off yet.

Every year at our party, we do a white elephant/yankee swap gift exchange.

Each student brings in a gift valued around $5 and ends up with another student’s gift.

Sometimes the gifts are good and sometimes they are just funny.

Case in point:  Like last night when Brian got a beautiful new Disney Elsa dress as his gift.  It was one of the gifts that we brought and I got it at Target on clearance for like $3.  It ended up going home with one of our leaders who has a young daughter and I’m sure she will be delighted with it.

I have to say.  Overall, the gifts were awesome this year.

They did get passed around.

Because that is the nature of the game.

But overall

It was good and it was fun.

Best gift of the night and possibly of the history of us playing this game…

Was when Kenny gifted his Math homework for that night.

It came complete with some candy and a pencil.  I think Jackie ended up keeping it and she might have even completed a few of the questions as well.

All in all, it was a fantastic night with these students that we love so much.

Another fun gift of the night was when one of our leaders, Dan, got a beautiful new iPhone 6S case.  The irony, is that he is one of the few people that we know that still proudly carries a flip phone.

We also took time last night to thank the amazing team of leaders that we have.  We could not do what we do each year without them.

And finally at the very end, we gave an EBCYG goodbye to our friend Jade.  She is heading out in January to do a YWAM mission in Mexico and will be gone for five months.  She will be involved in an amazing program where she immerses herself spending time learning about Jesus with her team and then will go out and serve.  Jade grew up in our Youth Group and currently serves as a leader and we could not be more proud of her and all that she will do for Jesus.  We wish her the very best and can’t wait to hear all about her adventures.

And that sums up our EBCYG Christmas party.  Thanks for stopping by to read all about it.  We are off for the next two weeks, and will start back up again the first week in January.  If you are local and know of any 7th-12th grade students who are looking for a place to belong, we would love have them join us!  We meet on Thursdays from 7:00pm-9:00pm for hangout, games, lesson and small groups.  Feel free to message me with any questions: or Jeremy at, who is my awesome husband and the Youth Pastor at Eastport Bible Church.

I love Jesus, my Youth Pastor Husband and our two beautiful children. I'm a professional photographer and I love people, especially kids. My best days include time with my family, Hot Yoga and a Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream cone.
