I first met Kristen and her beautiful kids six years ago. She and her sisters brought all of their kids out to a pumpkin patch so we could get some cousin pictures. At the time, I remember her boys being super awesome and well behaved and we had a great session together capturing fun fall pictures.
So you can imagine my delight when I got a text from her a few weeks ago asking to set up another session, this time one for just her family.
When we met up, I almost didn’t recognize her boys, who have now grown up into handsome and awesome and well behaved young men.
Overall, it was a great day for a family session.
And as we walked around finding fun places to shoot, I felt a growing appreciation for being able to work with families at all ages and stages. A lot of the families that I work with have little ones and though some of the sessions can be challenging, they often capture such a special time of life. Holding babies and chasing toddlers always makes for fun memories and times that we know pass by so quickly.
But I also had such admiration and appreciation for Kristen gathering her family to do portraits as well to commemorate the new stage that she is entering. Her oldest is in his Senior year and next year, their family will look different with him off to college.
Taking the time and effort to do a session to capture where her family is at now is something that I believe she and her husband will value for years and years to come.
Family Portraits are so incredibly special at any and every age. They are a beautiful way to remember our families and our kids in brief but special moments of time. A huge thanks to Kristen and her family for meeting up to take Family Portraits this year.
