Saying Goodbye

We met the Nicholson family when Christian and Erin were in Kindergarten together.  And throughout the next six years, we’d grow to love this sweet family so very much.

I got to know Ally through little interactions at the school.  I’d soon learn that she was an incredibly dedicated wife and mom and that she loved her family very much.  I was so happy when she joined up with a Moms Group that I started a few years ago, and even happier for another opportunity to get to spend time with such a special friend.  And it was a joy and a blessing to get to know her three sweet kids, especially over the past few years.  Christian and Erin would end up having a few years together in the same class.  And last year, we spent quite a bit of time out at the track when the kids all ran with the Land Sharks.  But this past year, we were so blessed because Lauren was part of our Youth Group and Erin and Ryan part of Hangtime.  We enjoyed seeing them all throughout the week and loved them all so much.

But as I’ve mentioned before, the Nicholson family is heading out this next week to start a whole new chapter of their lives.  We are so sad to see them go and know that we will miss them greatly.  Thankfully, in the midst of their busyness, I convinced Ally to let me borrow the kids this afternoon to capture some pictures of them from their hometown.  I know they will be learning about and loving their new home, but I wanted them to always remember us and the quaint little Long Island town that loved them all very much.

Just a few words to share about this guy.  Ryan, you have a passion for life and for activity and it’s been so fun getting to know you.  We know you’ll continue to keep your family on their toes and can’t wait to hear all about the great things you’ll do.  Enjoy your new soccer team and remember to always do your best in everything that you do.

Erin, you’re sweet and kind and talented as well!  We hope that you will find new ways to share the many gifts that you have in your new town and school.  I’m going to be praying that you find a great group of kind friends.  You are a great friend and I’m sure that you will be a blessing to the new people that you meet.  You have a beautiful smile that reflects your beautiful heart.  Keep smiling and keep living your beautiful story.

And oh, Lauren.  You know I’m going to miss seeing you and I will also miss your incredible spirit.  You were one of my best helpers this year at Hangtime and I appreciate your willingness to serve no matter what.  You had an incredible attitude, regardless of your circumstances and this will be a great help to you in life, no matter where you find yourself.  Remember the great things that you learned and live each day knowing how much God loves you.  Seek the great plan that He has for your life.  We love you so, so much and we will miss you!

  1. Laura, this was positively beautiful. You have so much talent. Thank you for doing this for my family. I look forward to seeing your posts from time to time about things going on at EBC. Love and God Bless you and your family.

  2. It has been a joy to have known this wonderful family and watch them grow up to be loving young adults! Time passes by so quickly that it’s hard to imagine that it’s time for you to move on to new adventures so soon. It feels like yesterday when you were talking about the move. I hope you will enjoy your new home as much as you did here!!😘😘. Please keep in touch🐮🐮🐮🐮
