Last night, we did something that we had never done before. Looking back, I’m not really sure why we hadn’t done it, but I suppose that’s not the point. The point, is that a few weeks ago, Jeremy and I were talking and we came up with the idea of throwing a party to welcome the Sixth Graders (who are soon to be Seventh) into our Youth Ministry.
So we put out a blog post and Christian handed out some invitations to friends in his class. And the result? It was pretty awesome. What follows, are lots of pictures from the incredible night that we had welcoming in about 20 new 6th Graders. We hung out, played games, Jeremy shared a mini lesson and we ended the night with some cotton candy (Thanks Wendy) and some delicious home baked goods (thanks to all of my incredible friends who made the treats for us).
After party thoughts would include a great excitement for our new friends and for seeing where God continues to bring our Youth Group and Youth Ministry. We have a great summer calendar willed with all sorts of fun and we hope that lots of these kids (and more) will join us for these incredible events.
We played “Snakes on a Plane” which is one of favorite Youth Group mixer games.
I loved seeing the Prayers and Strength for Michael bracelets that many of his friends wear in his honor.
After the mixer, we headed outdoors to play more games.
The first one involved nerf guns. Which instantly adds a level of fun.
The next game involved water balloons, dodge balls and this fun costume.
A few chose to sit the game out and just be awesome from the sidelines.
But for the most part, everyone had a great time hanging out and playing the crazy games that we made up especially for this night.
Afterwards, we went inside for a few announcements and a short lesson. This was the part when Jeremy asked how many of the kids were Sixth Graders. It was pretty exciting to see.
We ended our night with lots of treats.
Including some delicious cotton candy courtesy of Ms. Wendy Wilkins. She was incredible, making up and serving cotton candy to everyone at the end of the night.
The kids absolutely loved it!
A huge thanks to our Youth Group and to all of the Sixth Graders that came out for our party. If you have a Sixth Grader who was unable to make it, no worries at all. We would still love for them to come and be a part of our Youth Group, anytime. I have Summer Schedules if anyone needs them, or you can always check out what’s going on at EBCYG by going to http://www.ebcyg.com.
