Dear Sixth Graders,

First off, Congratulations!  You are almost official graduates of Elementary School.  We are all incredibly proud of you and excited for the fun things that life has in store for you.  All that being said, you’re at a pretty crucial point of life.  You’re leaving behind your childhood and entering into this new phase, we all know as the crazy, but crucial Jr. High years.  These are the years where you find yourselves.  These are the years where you start to pick your life paths.  And to be honest, these years can be tough.

But never fear.  Because we are here for you.  To introduce ourselves, “We” are EBCYG (the Eastport Bible Church Youth Group).  We are an awesome group of 7th through 12 graders (many of whom are from ESM) and we would love to have you come and join us this summer!

We’ll kick off our summer with a few fun events throughout June.  We’ll have a FourSquare Tournament (June 16) and a Thunderball Tournament (June 23).

And if you want to join us, we’re also heading out for a week at NTS Camp (July 10-15th… We are having a parent meeting at the church this Thursday at 6:30pm if you’re interested in more information).

Besides that, we generally get together throughout the summer for all sorts of fun things.

We meet up every Wednesday (from 6-8:30pm) in July and August for EBCYG at the Beach.

Then, August 1st-5th, we have a full week of VBS Kids Camp from 9-12 every day.  It’s free and the Sixth Graders get to hang out at pools all week long.

We’re even taking a trip out to Hershey Park in August as well.

And when the summer is over, we’ll start up our weekly Thursday Night Youth Groups from 7-9pm.  We meet each week for games, worship, a Bible lesson and then Small Groups.  This is always the best time to grow closer to God and to be encouraged by your leaders and friends.

All that being said, we are here for you!  Life was never meant to be spent alone and living life well means living life with people who love you and who will be there for you no matter what.

So, you may be wondering how do you get plugged in with EBCYG?

Well that is where our first official Sixth Grade Party @ EBCYG comes in!  On Thursday, June 9th from 7-9pm we are meeting up at Eastport Bible Church to welcome and celebrate you!

If you know you’re coming, feel free to message me and let me know so we can plan for you.  My name is Laura Herr.  I’m a local photographer and the director of the after school program Hangtime, which runs through Eastport Bible Church.  My husband Jeremy Herr has been the Youth Pastor at Eastport Bible Church for 13 years.  Our goal is to love and encourage students and to show them that God has a great plan for their lives.  We’ve worked with hundreds of students over the years and we absolutely love what we do.  We have a great team of leaders who help us and an incredible group of 7th-12th grade students who are active members of our Youth Group.  If you have any questions at all, please feel free to message me or email: lauraherr8@gmail.com or jherrdog@gmail.com (for Jeremy).

I love Jesus, my Youth Pastor Husband and our two beautiful children. I'm a professional photographer and I love people, especially kids. My best days include time with my family, Hot Yoga and a Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream cone.
