I’m so happy to share that there are four more incredible weeks left of Hangtime.
If you didn’t know, Hangtime is a community after school program that we run every Wednesday at Eastport Bible Church from 3:30pm-5:30pm.
We offer homework help, snack, arts, sports and skills workshops and then end with a Bible lesson and small groups. We pick up from Eastport Elementary and Tuttle Avenue School and our program is completely free.
Lately, my favorite part of Hangtime is just seeing the kids having a fun time playing.
Because nothing beats a case of Spring Fever, like a few rounds of GaGa Ball behind the church.
And if your child just needs a creative outlet, we always have a crafts workshop available
While downstairs, Ms. Gina and Ms. Vanessa are joined each week by a great group of kids for our Cooking Workshop.
And to be honest, this could be the best secret game ever invented. I learned it from our friends the Caprari’s and for the record, the kids are awesome at it. One little guy saw that we were playing last week and yelled, “I love this game,” as he ran into the room and quickly laid down. We call it “Sleeping Lambs” and basically I challenge the kids to see who can fall asleep in the five minutes of transitioning between workshops and our lesson time. They haven’t caught on quite yet, and it’s been the perfect way to get them to settle down right before we hear our story.
Our theme for the year has been encouraging the kids to “Make their Mark.” We tell them each week how much God loves them and how He has a great plan for their lives. It’s our goal that every child would feel loved and accepted and that they would be encouraged to do great things. And then at the very, very end of Hangtime, we end with Small Groups. Many are student led and it’s their time to share with each others about the great things that they’ve learned that day.
And this pretty much sums up a week at Hangtime. I’m writing this to share that it’s not too late to have your child come and join us for this awesome program. We have four more weeks left and it’s a great way for the kids to have fun as they finish up another great school year. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me or email me at: lauraherr8@gmail.com. Sign up is easy and can be done here. (Then, if your child is at Eastport Elementary or Tuttle Avenue School, you just have to let the school know on Wednesday that your child will be going to Hangtime. They are very familiar with our program and very helpful as well.)
