In my mind, babies are pure goodness and love. Especially tiny little ones. And when you have twins you get double that goodness and double that love.
And no, for the record, we don’t personally have twins. But friends of ours had them and a few years ago they let us borrow them while they took a much needed night out.
Because my dear friend Victoria loved holding and cuddling those sweet babies as much as I did, she came over that night to do just that and brought Michael along with her.
Michael ended up falling asleep. And I’m sure it wasn’t because he didn’t think that the babies were awesome, I think he just needed a good rest. And I’m pretty sure we can all relate to that.
Speaking of a good rest, it’s what I’m asking God to give Michael tonight. Because tomorrow will be a big day for him.
But first, today. Today was a good day for Michael. Jeremy and I drove up to greet him earlier this morning. He was sitting in his special hospital chair and was wide eyed awake when we walked into his room. It was good to catch up with him and again to see his long blinks in response to the things we said.
Sarah and Sally came up a bit after we got there. We all spent time talking and telling Michael how much we all loved him and how great he was doing. Sarah brought over the special sea turtle that she picked up for Michael while she was in Florida. It was sweet to see Michael holding up the turtle and moving him around a bit. We didn’t stay too long since I had an appointment to get to, but I’m so thankful for the time that we did have and all in all it was a great visit.
And oh, I have such good news to share tonight. First off, Michael had a great day. Sally texted me to share that he was doing some pretty awesome things and this was so good to hear. And secondly, as I’ve generally shared this week, tonight I found out that Michael will be going in to have surgery tomorrow to have his shunt placed. The surgery is scheduled to take place at 9:00am tomorrow morning. So please dear friends and prayer warriors, would you pray that everything would be a great success for our dear friend Michael? Could you pray for the doctors and the nurses and everyone who will be involved with the surgery. Prayers for Michael’s family would also be greatly appreciated. And finally, for Michael. That God would do a mighty work in this surgery. That he would recover quickly and that all would be well for him to head out to rehab as soon as he is ready.
Psalm 23:6 promises that goodness and love will be with us all the days of our lives. And I know that all throughout the past two months of Michael’s life, that has been so much goodness and love.
There has been goodness in seeing God’s faithfulness in healing Michael’s internal injuries. He sustained multiple injuries that have since healed and for this we thank and praise God.
There has been goodness in the many doctors and nurses that have had a role in helping Michael during his stay in the Stony Brook ICU.
There has been goodness and love in the outpouring of support and prayers from family, friends, our amazing community and from people in states all over the country and countries all over the world.
There has been love seen every day from Michael’s family as they have so faithfully come around him throughout this difficult time.
There has been love from people who don’t even know Michael, but who have read his story and prayed so faithfully for him.
And to be honest, I could write all night about the goodness and love that God has already given Michael and his family throughout everything. And I know that that goodness and that love will just continue to grow as Michael has his surgery tomorrow and God willing heads out to rehab as soon as he is able.
Please continue praying for Michael and especially for his surgery tomorrow. And thank you so much for being a part of the goodness and love that is being shown throughout Michael’s continuing journey.
