So after all is said and done, all in all, we had a pretty fantastic week of Vacation Bible School.  It was one of the biggest years that I can remember (on Wednesday, we had 147 kids) and we had such an amazing group of students, leaders and helpers.  Throughout the week, we talked about how God created and loves every person and we reinforced these themes with songs, lessons and games.

The highlight of the week for me was our Change for Children program.  We asked the VBS kids to bring in quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies to help support the children of the Paradise Orphanage in Burkina Faso, West Africa.  Every cent would go to help the orphans receive food, shelter, and clothing.  Most importantly though, these children would also be able to learn about God’s love too. Every day at VBS the kids would bring in bags of change.  One sweet girl dutifully brought in a large bag of coins each day.  When I asked her where she got all of the change, she replied, “My Daddy’s coin bank.”  I laughed, and hoped that her Dad knew where all of his change was going.  I think he’s be proud to know that it was going to help many children get things that they truly needed.

At the end of the week, we had two very large bucketfuls of change.  The total amount brought in for the week was $1,126.01.  And I could not have been more proud.  It’s amazing to think that doing something so small as asking kids to bring in something that we don’t think much of (spare change) could make such a huge impact for others.  A huge, huge thank you, if you are a parent reading this, and you helped your child bring in money this week for our Change for Children coin drive.  Know that your money will go to help other children and that we are so thankful for all of your help.

All that being said, I’ll leave you with some pictures from the week.  And if you are a local parent reading this and you sent your child to our VBS, I want to thank you.  Thank you for letting us be a part of your child’s life.  Your child/children are so special to us and we love them and love being able to share such good things about Jesus with them.

Also know that we have programs for children that go throughout the entire year.  Tomorrow, I’ll be leading our Kids Church and we always have a blast.  Our worship service at Eastport Bible Church begins at 9:30am and goes till about 10:40am.  Which I think is nice for families, especially in the summer.  You get to come, be with your great church family, worship and learn more about Jesus and then have the rest of the day.  Kids Church starts about halfway through the service and it’s a great time for the kids to get to have fun, learning more about Jesus.  Everyone is welcome and we would love to have you and your family join us!

Oh, and in case you didn’t know.  The fun incentive with the Change for Children was getting to pour a bucket of slime on either Pastor Jerry or Pastor John.  Or, in the case of this week, both.  Because the kids brought in so much money, we decided to let them both join in the fun.

I love Jesus, my Youth Pastor Husband and our two beautiful children. I'm a professional photographer and I love people, especially kids. My best days include time with my family, Hot Yoga and a Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream cone.
