It’s the eve of our 2015 Missions Trip to Costa Rica.  I’m happy to say that most of our packing is done.  And as I was sitting here waiting for the next load of laundry to dry, I got to thinking.  A Missions Trip is kind of like a Box of Chocolates.  Because, as Forrest Gump once pondered, “You never know what you’re going to get.”

I do say “Kind of” though.  Because going back to Costa Rica, we do know quite a bit of what we’re going to get.

We’re going to get another chance to go down to the Belen church in Costa Rica and be a part of their Kids Games week.

We’re going to get the chance to serve along side of the amazing Kids Games team that they have.

We’re going to get lots of time to hang out with lots of amazing kids as they sing and play and learn more about Jesus.

And this year, I’m thrilled that we’re going to get to take the trip with our whole family.  Because Christian and Ellee will be joining our team of 18 students and leaders and I could not be happier.  They are pretty excited about it too.

Since we’re leaving tomorrow, we know that we will get to spend the Fourth of July in another country for the second year in a row.  Which it totally fine.  Because we learned last year that you can totally celebrate your country in another one.

And finally, we also know that we we will have another year with new opportunities for our students and leaders to get to know and love another culture.  We have twelve students on our team with four who will be going to Costa Rica for the first time.

Granted, whereas we know a lot of things that we are looking forward to going back to, there are actually always those unknowns.  And that friends, is where I’ll ask you to come in.  If you’re willing, please pray for us.  Pray for safety and for protection.  Pray that God will work in mighty ways, in and through our team.  Pray for Kids Games and for Pastor Alonzo and the amazing team we will be going down to work with.  And mostly, please pray that God will be glorified throughout our trip in all that we say and do.

I’m so excited to see the great things that God has in store for us this next week and a half.  I will be blogging throughout our trip, so feel free to come back and see what we’re up to.  Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers and I cannot wait to share the great things, known and unknown that we will learn and do.
