When I was in elementary school, summer started the first week of June when school got out. Unfortunately for our kids, that technically means that summer won’t be starting for another two weeks. But if we’re being honest, when the humidity rolls in, the days stretch longer and longer, and evenings are warm enough for a scooter ride with Dad… Summer is basically here.
This girl will smile this smile every single time she takes a ride on her Daddy’s scooter. And she’ll rock a skirt like a champ. She’s so cool.
Yesterday evening, they rolled out. They headed to meet up with Christian and I at Funchos. Thanks to a gift card from our wonderful friends the Tuttles, we enjoyed a fun dinner at our favorite taco place. We had an incredible time.
While Christian and I checked out a few books from the library, these two scooted home. They had a little catch up time and then Ellee showed her dad how to do a few hand clapping games.
Be still my heart. Because I love these two and the amazing bond that they have.
Afterwards, they played a few rounds of good old fashioned catch.
Cuddled a bit by the fireplace.
Then called it a night. And a great one at that. I cannot wait for more of these nights. We still have a few busy weeks to get through, but Summer is so close, I can almost taste it and I’m totally ready for the new pace it will bring.
