Pace

Last week flew by at lightning speed and there were so many times that I felt that I couldn’t even catch my breath.  And it was a bit uncomfortable and so this week,  I am vowing to slow down the pace a bit.  Because life can’t be enjoyed flying by quite that fast.  Thankfully, I did manage to catch up this afternoon, with a two hour nap, and so that would probably explain why I’m sitting here typing away, all fresh and new at 1:19am.

Anyhow, when life gets busy, it’s hard to keep up with my blog, so I thought I’d share a few highlights from the past few days.  Here goes.

1.  First I’d like to introduce, my newest nephew, Matthew Thomas.  He’s my oldest sister Leslie’s eighth baby, if you could even imagine that people still have that many kids.  He was born on 5-14-15, a day shy of a birthday that would have been quite easy to remember, but still a great day nonetheless.  In some wonder of events, he came out with strawberry blonde hair, which I think is quite impressive for a half Korean baby.  All that being said, we are so thankful for this new addition and praising God for this wonderful baby boy.

2.  I spent last Thursday and Friday at my favorite preschool, Over the Rainbow in East Morchies, taking Spring and Graduation pictures of some of the sweetest preschoolers.

I also got to catch up with some of the wonderful teachers that work at Over the Rainbow in between pictures.  If you are local and looking for a great preschool, they always come highly recommended.  Both of our kids went there, and loved it.  And taking school pictures at Over the Rainbow is always a highlight for me.

3.  These kids were pretty amazing this weekend.  They represent most of our youth group students who participated in this year’s 30 Hour Famine (there were a few more that participated but weren’t able to do join us on Saturday).  The kids stayed overnight at our house on Friday night and then spent Saturday morning, cleaning and organizing around the church, and on empty stomachs no less.  They happily celebrated the end of their famine with pizza from Michaelangelos and it was a  pretty awesome event.

4.  And finally, today was a pretty fantastic day at Eastport Bible Church.  We kicked off our Family Matters Series as well as our first Superhero Sunday and it was a great success.  These kids had fun doing super hero crafts and games and then we learned all about Gideon, a pretty awesome Bible hero.

And so, I suppose when you think of all of the good things that went on this past weekend, it makes sense that some weeks are just a little crazier than others.  But I still have this strong desire to find a bit more balance in the busyness.  I don’t like the feeling of being out of control and just checking things off a to-do list, but I know that will be the temptation for me as we finish up May and head into an equally full June.  I don’t know the magical answer for slowing down, but am praying that I can make the most of this time in life and focus on getting the important things done, and finding down time to enjoy when I can.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and Happy Monday!
