I grew up going to a small Baptist church in Muskegon, Michigan. From the time I was a baby in the church nursery all throughout my high school years, I attended Sheridan Drive with my sisters and our parents. For me, going to church was just a given. It was what we did every Sunday morning, Sunday night and mid week on Wednesdays as well. We were pretty committed and my parents and sisters and their families to this day still attend that church.
It definitely influenced my upbringing and the person that I am today. Early on, I learned all about Jesus and God and the Bible at church. I memorized a slew of Bible verses, and in the King James Version, no less, by attending AWANA, which was the children’s program that we had at our church. And I also had ample opportunities to serve in ministry, even from a young age. I worked in our children’s programs, served in our youth group and even sang many Sundays with my sisters.
And when I was blessed with the privilege of raising our own children, church was something that we did with them from a young age as well. Both of our children have attended Eastport Bible Church from the time they were babies.
Of course for us, with Jeremy being a Pastor, our kids have spent extra time at church, but for the most part, it’s been pretty good for them to learn about Jesus and to have a great community around them.
Our kids have participated in great Children’s programs and have made many of their friends through our church.
Because church is where great things happen, for everyone. Church for us has been where we’ve met and ministered to hundreds of Jr. and Sr. High youth group kids over almost twelve years.
Church is where softball happens, for men
And women too.
It’s also where our church family has the opportunity to come out and support both of our men’s and women’s teams.
At Eastport Bible Church, we love children and families and have so many opportunities for them all throughout the week.
And I write all of this to share that starting this Sunday, May 17th, we have a really great opportunity that we would love to have you join us for. Our focus is families and how we can love and support them through all that they are going through. So, we are starting a five week series called “Family Matters,” that is going to be awesome. Our church service starts 9:30am (which is nice if you are a busy family and have things going on later in the day) and we have childcare for the little ones. We are also doing a children’s program called Superhero Sundays during the message time so that your child can come into a fun environment and learn all about how God used ordinary people to lead superhero lives and how He wants them to do great things too.
You are invited to join us. Because your family matters. We have a loving and supportive church family at Eastport Bible Church and this is the perfect opportunity to come and check out our church. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me through Facebook, email: lauraherr8@gmail.com or text: 631-448-1100. We would love to see you this Sunday!
Additional Info: Eastport Bible Church is located in Eastport, at 386 Montauk Highway, just past Eastport Elementary if you are heading east. If you have any questions for the church, you can call: 631-325-8164.
(note: this is what happens when you are taking an all church picture and you yell out, “Goofy Picture!” Some were more committed than others. But that’s totally okay.)
