It’s Friday. And today’s post will just be about random things. And I thought I should think of some clever name, like, “Fantastic Fun Friday… um, things?” But I couldn’t think of anything beside “things” or “stuff” and neither of them really fit in with the “F” of the Friday theme, so I gave up and decided to keep it simple. Anyhow, here goes:
The weather today is downright dreary. And I told myself I should never be the kind of person that complains about the weather, but come on already. While we did enjoy a few warm days in Philly with temps in the 70s (who knew?), we came back to temps in the high 30s. Yesterday, it was so cold and rainy that Christian’s track practice got cancelled again, just because of the weather. The hopeful part is that our forecast is finally looking warmer with some upcoming temps that will be mid 50s. Which will feel practically tropical after this long-winded winter.
So, since Rite Aid decided to change up their rewards program and nothing much is going on there till the new program kicks in, I decided to give couponing at CVS a try. The main reason that I’ve always couponed at Rite Aid, is because they are only a mile away. The closest CVS is a ten minute drive, which isn’t terrible, I suppose. Anyhow, I checked out my favorite couponing website, http://www.hip2save.com because all of the deals are laid out already. I looked for items that we needed, or were nearly free and came up with the following, pictured below. The retail price was $57.93. I spent $36.85 using coupons and deals. And then I got $16 back in rewards to use for my next trip. So, about $20.85 for everything, which isn’t so bad. I’m still on the fence, but will take the $16 I got back and use it to coupon for more deals next week. I’ll keep you posted ;).
A few days ago, I saw a cute picture that a friend posted from my favorite bakery back home. She mentioned something about not eating there, because she was not eating sugar. And it got me thinking. Granted, I’m a huge sugar fan. I love bakeries and treats and sugar filled things to eat. But lately, I think I’ve been eating too much sugar. So, inspired by her post, I decided to try to give up eating candy (but not dark chocolate. Because it’s kind of candy and kind of not). Thus, I’m trying to convince myself that natural sugars are better than just normal sugar. Yesterday, I had a mango and two boxes of raisins to keep me company. It’s a work in progress. But in the past few days, I’ve noticed a difference on my scale, so I’m inspired to see what happens if I try to be more conscious of what I eat.
And finally, Ellee wanted to start a puzzle together a few days ago. So she brought out a 1000 piece that she got for her birthday. And I’ve slowly become addicted to completing it. Doing puzzles is strangely therapeutic. This is the progress “we” have made so far. And when I say “we,” I mostly mean me, because she gave up on it about thirty minutes after we started.
And that would about sum up the random things going on with me going into this weekend. Speaking of the weekend, it’s going to be a busy one. First off, we are kicking off the beginning of our church’s Mission Conference Week. Which means lots more missions events and activities that will be coming up starting on Sunday. Along with it, I have three photography jobs this weekend, which is great, but will definitely add to the busyness. So I suppose taking time to enjoy the quiet of this dreary day will probably be a good calm before the coming week. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great weekend!
