So, our Easter Sunday looked a little different this year. We started out, much like other years, with an early Sunrise service at Newport Beach. It was amazing and I have pictures that I will share when we get back. Afterwards, we joined our church family for Easter breakfast and then later for our Easter worship service. It was a wonderful morning spent celebrating Jesus’ resurrection day.
Afterwards, we got into our car and headed out for a little Herr family road trip. The kids fell asleep almost instantly, the result I’m sure, from waking up so early this morning.
We drove for about three hours, till we ended up at our destination: A beautiful Hyatt hotel near Philadelphia. Thanks to the January Rite Aid promotion, I was able to coupon my way to two free nights at any Hyatt. We chose one near Philly since we’d never been there before. I have to admit, this little getaway has been something that our family has needed for awhile. It’s been pretty busy these days and sometimes you just need a little time to rest and relax. Which is exactly what we’ll be doing for the next few days in our big huge hotel room. It has two queen beds and a fun living room as well.
When we had settled into our room, we went to check out the pool. It’s honestly what our kids love the most. Then, while Jer took a little nap (he preached Friday and then again this morning for our Easter service and was pretty tired, to say the least), the kids and I went to check out the hotel gym. I spent a good hour on the elliptical while the kids had fun on the treadmills. They have wanted to workout with me and they both did a great job.
After a great workout in the gym, we woke up Jeremy and drove over to the Shake Shack. It was our first time and it was absolutely amazing. The burgers and fries were delicious. We enjoyed some house made root beer and for dessert tried the frozen custard with chocolate toffee. Because we all know I didn’t spend an hour on the elliptical for nothing.
And that about sums up our night. We’ll be hanging out here for the next few days and we could not be happier to enjoy our little Easter getaway. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Easter!
