Have Your Cake…

Today I celebrated my 34th birthday.  I began my day with a Birthday Brunch with some wonderful friends that my awesome husband organized.  It was so sweet to be surrounded by some incredible women that I have been blessed to know and love.  It made me realize that at 34, things are nice and stuff is good, but life is lived best by building up meaningful relationships with others.

Later in the day, I took a nap.  Last night and into this morning, it snowed a good 5 or 6 inches, and it seemed like the best, most cozy thing to do on a cold and snowy afternoon.  I woke up, refreshed.  Talked to my parents, who wished me a happy day from Michigan.  And then caught an evening dinner out with the kids and our friend Esther, at The Olive Garden.

All in all, it was a wonderful day.  The only thing missing, was time spent with Jeremy who was speaking at our Men’s Retreat this weekend.  He did a pretty solid job of celebrating with me all throughout the past week though, so he’s off the hook.

And I write this all to acknowledge a day that makes me grateful.  Grateful for life, for family and friends, and for good food too.  I ended the night with a slice of cake from the Beach Bakery.  I had my cake… and I ate it too.  And I have to say that 34 years is a pretty awesome time, if you ask me.  I’m excited to see what God has in store for me this coming year and hope that I can do my very best to reflect His love in all that I do.

(To those of you who were so kind to send birthday wishes, calls, texts and messages,

I thank you from the bottom of my heart.)

I love Jesus, my Youth Pastor Husband and our two beautiful children. I'm a professional photographer and I love people, especially kids. My best days include time with my family, Hot Yoga and a Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream cone.
