So, it probably goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyways… I’m not Irish. However, I did remember that today was Saint Patrick’s Day when I woke up and saw all of the cheery green on all of my friend’s Facebook pages. And it made me smile. For a few reasons. First off, I think it’s cool that I have friends that are Irish and that they are fully embracing their holiday. Secondly, Saint Patrick brought Christianity to Ireland, and that in itself is a pretty awesome feat. I have great respect for that. And finally, because it brought back memories of Four Leaf Clover construction projects in elementary school and the panic you had to make sure your friends knew you were wearing green so that they wouldn’t pinch you.
Speaking of elementary school, since our kids are both in it, we had a mad scramble this morning to find some semblance of green. Surprisingly, Ellee had nearly nothing. I guess the color never seeped into her pink and purple clothing palettes. So we improvised with a pair of jeggings and one of my green workout shirts. It eventually came together and she skipped away, happy in green to school. After a little prompting, Christian threw on a green t-shirt and I breathed a sigh of Saint Patrick’s Day relief.
Besides that, it’s a pretty quiet and rainy day here. Random life news would include:
Laundry Today is the day that I will be diligent and get a lot of it done. Which means that I have to hurry up and finish this post so I can go and change loads.
Rite Aid Rewards So, in January, I shopped my little heart out and bought $250 worth of select merchandise to earn five special codes. Because of coupons and rewards, I only actually spent about $100 for everything. And then I took those codes and jumped through paperwork and phone calls and eventually today, went and picked up our big reward from the post office: A two night stay at any participating Hyatt Hotel. And I’m pretty pumped about it. We have a fun location that we’re going to check out during the beginning of Spring Break and I’m so glad that it all finally came together.
Moms Group I’ve been inspired to start one at our home, two Tuesday mornings a month (the second and fourth of the month, I think). Because I love connecting with other moms and because it’s so much better to do life together than trying to do it alone. I’m thinking a little food, a little conversation and a devotion of sorts for each meeting. We start next week, so if you’re local to Eastport and are looking for a great group of moms to hang out with, please feel free to Facebook message me or email me (lauraherr8@gmail.com) for more information. It’s completely open to everyone and we would love to have you join us.
Birthday Week It’s mine. My birthday is coming up on Saturday and so my amazing family has declared this my birthday week and has planned all sorts of fun for me this week. And I’m not gonna lie, I’m loving every second of it. Turning 34 has become really quite fun. Most of all though, I’m thankful to be close to celebrating another full and wonderful year of life and I’m so thankful for the many blessings that God has given me.
And that about sums it up I suppose. I’m thankful that the rain is washing away the last bits of winter snow and praying that we won’t get more this weekend, like some random forecasts are calling for. I mean, is it really even possible to get snow at the end of March on the first day of Spring? I’m going to keep telling myself, no. Thanks so much for stopping by. For those of you that are Irish, or love today, I wish you the very happiest Saint Patricks Day!
