On any given week, much of what we do revolves around our ministry at Eastport Bible Church. Which, it totally fine with me. There are so many ministries and people and events that we love so it makes it easy to spend our time investing in our church and church family. Since last week was Winter Break, we also had a huge break from all of our ministries. Which was fine, because it was a little needed and we were also a little under the weather. However, starting yesterday, we were back in action, so I thought I’d share a little bit about the different ministries that we are involved in, on any given week.
On Sunday mornings, we have our 9:30am worship service. Jeremy has been preaching a lot more lately, and while he didn’t preach this past week, he is up again to share this coming Sunday. Once a month though, our son Christian leads a Kids Church and so he had his chance to “preach” yesterday and I was happy to be there to help and listen in.
We had a nice group of 3rd-6th graders for Kids Church yesterday. Considering the icy weather kept a few families away, it was a pretty nice turnout. Christian continued his series on the Fruits of the Spirit and the topic of the day was peace. I was impressed with the kids and how well they listened and participated and it was a great group.
On Sunday Evenings, Jeremy runs a Guys Group and I run a Girls Group. I didn’t break out my camera this week, because for our girls group, we’ve been having Fit Club, which is a combination of devotion time and working out. It’s been pretty awesome and I’m so proud of the group of girls that come each week. I’ve loved connecting with them through our lesson time and the camaraderie that we are building up as we exercise together.
Afterwards, Jeremy and I both drove over to NEXT, which is our College and Career Age ministry. It meets on the 2nd and 4th Sunday nights of the month and is led by Josh and Jonathan Tuttle. I usually don’t go, because I pick up our kids and get them ready for bed since they have school. But last night, Brenda Tuttle offered to watch our kids so I had the opportunity to go and help out. It was officially Tropical Night, so I had a great time making smoothies and hanging out for awhile.
I left once the smoothies were finished and just as the group was getting started. They have a great time hanging out, learning more about God and encouraging each other. I’m so thankful that I got the chance to be there, as it’s a great group for kids that are out of high school and into the exciting early years of adulthood. Again, it meets every other Sunday and if you are local and looking for a great group for encouragement and learning, I would highly recommend checking this group out.
On Tuesday afternoons, Christian attends Bible Club right in his school which is run by a great group from our church. Then, on Wednesdays, of course, we meet up with these awesome kids for Hangtime. Hangtime is our church’s after school program and it has been going so well.
The kids are amazing.
And they have a lot of fun too. Our whole family attends this ministry and we have really enjoyed it this year. On Wednesday nights, Christian heads over to Stockade, which is our church’s program for boys in 3rd-6th grade (we also have a group for 3rd-6th grade girls called Pioneer Girls that meets on Tuesday nights). He loves it and it’s a great time for him to have fun and learn more about God with some great boys and men from our church.
Thursday nights are youth group nights. It’s been our main ministry since we’ve been here and every year, we have such a great group of leaders and teens that we work with. It’s for 7th-12th grade students. We hang out, play games, have a lesson time and then small groups.
And then, the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month, we meet up with our youth group for some sort of fun activity. In the past, we’ve had game nights, gone out to Friendly’s or met up for Thunderball or Underground Church.
And that wraps up our week. The best thing, is that those are only the ministries that our family is a direct part of. Eastport Bible Church offers groups for people of all ages. We have knitting groups, bible studies (including a new Spanish Bible Study that just started), events for everyone from children to Seniors as well as a prayer group that meets every morning at 7:00am. I share all of this mostly because I’m excited that we are a part of a church that reaches out to offer something for everyone. If you are local, we would love to have you join us. And if you have any questions, please feel free to just ask and I’ll be happy to help wherever I can. Feel free to contact me through Facebook or email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks so much and have a great Monday!
