Hello Families!
With two snow days and two delayed starts in the past two weeks, I think it’s safe to say that we all need a little break from the cold and the snow. I know that I sure do, and I’m sure my kids could use one as well.
So, that’s where we come in. I’m going to confidently say that Hangtime is the best cure for the winter blues.
(In case you don’t know, Hangtime is a fun and free after school program that meets every Wednesday after school till 5:30pm at Eastport Bible Church. We do homework, have snacks, learn a great Bible lesson and then have arts, sports and skills workshops. It’s pretty much amazing.)
Since the temps have been so cold, there hasn’t been much time for our kids to get out and just run around. That’s where our Sports Workshop comes in. Every week, during the workshop time, kids have a chance to run around and play fun games together.
And down in the kitchen, something’s always smelling great with our Cooking Workshop. It’s a huge favorite amongst our Hangtime kids who love participating in various cooking and baking projects.
We always have kids getting to use their artsy skills in our Crafts Workshops. It’s one of the many things that I love about Hangtime. It’s our goal to give children an outlet for their creativity.
And just across the room, we’ve had a great group of knitters, working through their skeins of colorful yarn. We love offering different workshops at different times of the year and the Knitting Workshop has been a great success.
So, if you have a child, ages Kindergarten through Sixth Grade that needs something fun to do on a Wednesday afternoon, please have them come and join us for Hangtime. All children are welcome to come and join us. Also, if they are at Eastport Elementary, or Tuttle Avenue, we offer pickup right from the school. All you have to do is send a note in with your child telling their school that they will be participating in Hangtime and they will be good to go. Both schools are familiar with our program and do a wonderful job getting the children ready for us every Wednesday.
As I’ve mentioned before, we would love to have your child join us! We have new friends come all throughout the year. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me: Laura Herr, through phone or text 631-448-1100 or email lauraherr8@gmail.com. I would be happy to help with any questions that you have.
