Nana and the Girls

It’s 35 degrees outside and Nana’s in the pool with the girls.

Moving on.

Yesterday, when Ellee didn’t want to go and play flag football with the rest of the family, Nana invited her to stay and hang out with her and Baby Jae.  And then today, when we were shopping, I walked down the aisle to find Nana, Jaycee and Ellee just hanging out all together and it was terribly heartwarming.

Nana sure loves her grandkids.  In the past few days it’s been so sweet to notice the affection that she has for each of them, and for the ways she chooses to show it.  She’s been a part of helping with our delicious meals, she’s taking all opportunities she can to love and cuddle her youngest grandchild and she’s always looking out to make sure Ellee and Jaycee and Christian and Jaxon are doing well.  And then, tonight, when Ellee and Jaycee wanted to go for a late night swim, and their moms weren’t so sure, Nana stepped up to join them and made it happen.  What resulted, were lots of giggles, lots of fun and Nana teaching Ellee how to do the backstroke.  Memories were definitely made.

We don’t live close to our families.  But it’s good to know that far-away families can still be close.  I’m so thankful for both of our families and for the incredibly special times that we are able to have.
