Enjoying

This weekend, we’ve been enjoying some good, much-needed family time.

Because lately, when I look at their little faces, I see that they aren’t so little anymore.  And it makes me want to cherish moments and times together even that much more.

I loved watching them hang their ornaments on our tree tonight.

Ellee, especially.  Because she delighted in every ornament that she found.  “Look, this one is me,” she’d exclaim excitedly.  And it reminded me of the days when I was her age, and I’d help my mom set up our tree.  My mom had a wonderful tradition of purchasing my sisters and I, a new Hallmark ornament every year, so we all ended up with quite the collections.  And to this day, I delight in hanging up those ornaments, along side of our kids’ handmade ones.  It makes for quite a beloved Christmas tree.

I’m so excited for Christmas this year.  I’m excited to enjoy the decorations and to make memories.  We have a few fun things up our sleeves this year, as we try to make it a fun, but meaningful holiday for our family.

Because apart from the parties and the gifts and the busyness that comes, I really want them to know that there are so many reasons to celebrate this wonderful season.
