Happy Thanksgiving.
Our festivities started yesterday. When my beautiful friend Erika invited me over to bake some Thanksgiving pies.
She found the most incredible apple pie recipe, so we baked a few of them together.
Every since moving away from Michigan, eleven years ago, I’ve missed being by my sisters and family. But I’m so thankful for amazing friends that help to fill in the voids. Erika has certainly been one of those. We talked all sorts of life things while the pies baked.
And the end result? Incredible. Might be the prettiest pie I’ve ever baked. And I’m looking forward to trying it out later today.
After a pie baking afternoon, we enjoyed our annual Thanksgiving Service at church in the evening. We sang and shared and it was wonderful to be surrounded by our church family. We also had a sharing time, which always makes me so thankful to be surrounded by other people that are thankful as well. Puts a great focus, going into the holidays.
Afterwards, we caught up with friends,
neighbors,
families,
And our wonderful college students, many of whom are home for the holidays.
Another thing that we are so thankful for this year, is Pastor Jerry and Deanna. They have been such a blessing to our church and we are incredibly thankful for them.
Our Thanksgiving morning, started off with our annual Turkey Bowl. It was cold, wet and awesome.
Also, my husband’s outfit was super awesome as well.
Thankfully, despite what you might see in the pictures or video, no one was hurt (thank goodness).
It was a great morning and the perfect way to kick off our Thanksgiving, 2014. As for the Herrs 2014 Thanksgiving, we will be enjoying a very relaxing day and some amazing filet mignon and other fun Costco food favorites, because that is how we roll.
Happy, happy Thanksgiving to you all!
