Hangtime, Week 8 started out much like every other week. After picking up 24 kids at Eastport Elementary, we carefully walked over to the church where the kids grabbed a snack and got started on their homework for the day.
When they finished, they had fun, hanging out and playing games. This is definitely one of the great parts about Hangtime. They get to take time each week, to hang out.
They always seem to really enjoy this part of the afternoon.
After our second pick up at Tuttle Avenue School, our homework room was in full swing.
Elsewhere, kids were being creative in finding fun in the church basement. As our program grows, our spaces are seeming to get smaller because there are more people to fill them up with. We had 50 kids and 18 adults for our 8th week of Hangtime.
We changed up the program this week and met for Workshops right after homework time.
And in case your wondering, this is a portion of what 50 kids’ coats and backpacks look like.
After workshops, we met together for lesson time. This week, we talked about how we need to have attitudes of gratitude. We learned that God wants us to give thanks, not just at Thansgiving, but in all circumstances. The kids took time to fill out things that they were thankful for.
And afterwards, I may have given them delicious chocolate cake. Because it was our Thanksgiving Party and because it also happened to be Ellee’s birthday. But since Hangtime does get over right before dinner time, I probably should not advertise that one as much. All in all, another great week of Hangtime. We will be off next week for Thanksgiving but will meet back up again the week after that. Thanks so much for stopping by!
