Wednesdays and Hangtime have fast become this beautiful mid week highlight for me.
The children are falling into a solid homework routine and each week, I thank God for the amazing leaders that he brings to help the kids with their work.
It’s funny, I haven’t heard one complaint from a child about doing homework. They all sit down together, and our leaders and helpers rotate around, checking in to see if anyone needs help. In the past few weeks, we’ve had a few more helpers sign on, and it’s such a joy to see them come in and sit with the kids as they do their work. God has been so good in providing amazing people for this program.
Todays workshops included an entire new batch of bakers. They carefully measured all the ingredients needed for some delicious cookies, made from scratch.
Upstairs, pumpkins were being created.
And outdoors, in the shadow of our church that is undergoing quite a few renovations, Jeremy gathered a lively group for some European Handball. The kids got to enjoy what is most likely one of our last days in the 70s.
Ms. Tuttle’s reading room enjoyed another great story and activity
And I was happy to enjoy a little chill time with my buddy Ryan.
All in all, it was a fantastic afternoon with an amazing group of kids.
After Hangtime, we enjoyed a little more “hang time” with some of Christian’s friends. It was our last hurrah for Christian’s birthday and the perfect opportunity to get some great guys together.
We started the evening out with a little flag football.
They boys had a great time, getting fresh air and playing a few games before the pizza arrived.
Then we walked back to our house and enjoyed some awesome Michaelangelos Pizza
And ice cream cake. They were even able to fit in a quick game of manhunt before parents came. It was the perfect ending to celebrating our son’s tenth birthday. All in all, it was a great afternoon and evening, hanging out.
