I thought I’d take a little time today to share about our kids. I’ll start with this sweet girl, and her shy/excited smile, which is always one of my favorites. For the longest time, we’ve been trying to help figure out some of her passions in life. Christian has his sports and games, but Ellee’s never had much interest for either of those.
She has been, however, our crafty girl. She loves creating and crafting and it’s definitely something that we’ve noticed and encouraged throughout her years. At the end of the summer, when I was trying to think of something that Ellee could get involved in during the school year, I thought about the possibility of sewing. There is a darling place near our town that gives lessons, but I wasn’t sure how we’d fit that all in. It was then, that I had the idea to reach out to one of our dear friends, who is an incredible seamstress herself. I asked if she might be willing to meet up with Ellee and help her with some sewing lessons, and it was the perfect match.
Ms. Barb brought Ellee all sorts of gifts, including many sewing supplies and an adorable sewing basket.
She started Ellee out on a few simple sewing projects and Ellee just took off with them.
I cannot tell you how much it means to have people who will love and support your children. Ms. Barb was a wonderful teacher and had such patience and love for Ellee. It was absolutely beautiful.
And Ellee loved her sewing lesson.
She learned two different stitches and has lots to practice with for the coming week.
When I asked her if she liked sewing, this was the face she gave me. I’m thrilled to have found something that she enjoys and am again, so thankful to Ms. Barb for taking time to come and teach her.
Christian, on the other hand, is also doing quite well.
School is great, sports are great and he started up Bible Club and Stockade this week. A quick note on that. A few weeks ago, Christian came to us and told us he was feeling stressed about how busy everything was. So we talked. We told him that it would be okay if he didn’t do the Bible Club this year because it was pretty busy. “No,” he replied,”I have to do the Bible Club, Mom. I learn so much there and it really helps me.” And our hearts swelled and we were so proud of our son and seeing his discernment.
In addition, his attitude has been great, which is always a wonderful thing.
This morning, before school, our friend Kate came over a little early to hang out.
The two of them had a wonderful time, playing football and getting in some exercise and fresh air to start the day off.
So yes. About our kids? They are doing well. And we are so thankful. A happy, happy weekend to everyone and thanks for stopping by!
