Just next door to Eastport, in our neighboring town of Speonk, there is a Country Market called Scales and Tails and I would have to say that they have the best lunch special around.
It’s this sign that first caught my eye at the end of last summer. I have to admit, I’m a fan of soups, sandwiches and most importantly desserts. And at $8.99 for all three, it was quite the deal. Let’s be honest, we easily spend that on fast food, which really isn’t ever that great, or great for us.
Moving on, I entered Scales and Tails and discovered the most delicious Lunch Special around. And this season, when they opened, I was delighted to see that they were offering it again. And so I purposed in my heart to make a point to share it with everyone I could.
The Daily Lunch Specials change, from week to week. But every week that I’ve had them, they have been amazing.
In addition to a great lunch special, Scales and Tails also offers a variety of beautiful and fresh fish.
They also have all sorts of other fun food offerings, including a vegetable stand
More ocean goodness,
And a variety of other food pantry staples that you may need.
And I would be remiss not to note that they have the best lemon bars around. Honestly, I didn’t even know that I liked lemon bars, but theirs are so amazing that I’ll stop by on occasion, just to pick one up.
I’m a fan of Scales and Tails. I love their cute little store and I think that everyone should stop by to check it out.
Their staff is friendly and helpful and also the creators of the delicious food that they offer.
This awesome guy is Van, who has worked at the store for multiple seasons. He is always friendly and helpful and has great suggestions too.
He wisely suggested the Crab and Asparagus soup that I got last week when I stopped in and it was delicious.
I paired it with the Fried Flounder Sandwich, which was amazing. I can’t describe it better than to say, their food tastes like it was made with love, by someone who cared about what they were doing. Granted, all food should taste like that, and when it does, you can always tell.
I ended my meal with their delicious berry pie.
In conclusion, I’m convinced. If you’re looking for some local flavor and a great lunch deal, stop in and check them out. They are located on 18 N Philips Avenue in Speonk. It’s a left off Montauk Highway, driving east from Eastport, and the same road you take if you’re going to the Speonk Train Station. At this point, they are only open Thursday through Sunday, but the owner Robert informed me that they would soon be open all throughout the week.
